A Bench Built for Fast Switching

Applying a CR Micro power device correctly is as important as choosing the right part, and because silicon carbide switches so fast, the layout and gate drive decide whether a design works. To support customers more effectively, BeiLuo has opened an FAE verification bench dedicated to CR Micro Super Junction MOSFETs, SiC MOSFETs and SiC JBS diodes. The bench lets our engineers measure gate waveforms, switching loss, turn-off overshoot and thermal behavior before a customer commits to a design, turning advice into evidence.

What We Measure

The bench is equipped with high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, differential probes, low-inductance current sensors and a thermal stage. Engineers characterize gate-drive behavior, measure turn-off overshoot at the device terminals, and quantify switching loss across frequency. For the Kelvin-source TO-247-4 package, the bench highlights how the source inductance affects ringing, which is easy to demonstrate. For SiC JBS diodes, the bench verifies the forward voltage at temperature and the surge capability under a controlled pulse.

From Selection to Validation

When a customer asks which device suits their application, our FAE team can now validate the recommendation on the bench. We compare a Super Junction MOSFET against a SiC MOSFET, match a SiC diode to the freewheeling path, and evaluate a surface-mount package against a through-hole one for a given operating point. The result is a design path backed by measured data, which reduces the risk of late-stage surprises.

Thermal Validation

Thermal design is often where designs fail. The bench measures case temperature under load, letting us verify heatsink and PCB thermal design against the device's junction-to-case thermal resistance and the customer's ambient. For SiC, where the on-resistance rises with temperature, this validation is especially valuable, because it confirms the hot-value estimate the customer used.

Supporting Customers Remotely

Not every customer can send hardware, so the bench also produces reference data that our team shares directly: recommended gate-drive values, the expected overshoot and the thermal headroom for common configurations. This shortens customer bring-up and makes remote support concrete, because the customer receives numbers and waveforms rather than general advice.

Validation Reports

For larger projects we prepare short validation reports that summarize the measurements, the recommended component values and the thermal margin. These reports help customers justify a design decision internally and give their own review process a documented basis.

Why This Matters for SiC Designs

SiC devices switch fast and reward a tight layout, so a small change in loop inductance can change the overshoot significantly. Measured guidance is therefore more valuable for SiC than for a slower silicon design: the bench tells the customer how much gate resistance and how much loop inductance their design can tolerate. That is exactly the decision that makes the difference between a quiet converter and a noisy one.

Measuring the SiC Diode

For SiC JBS diodes, the bench measures the forward voltage across current and temperature and confirms the surge withstand. Because these diodes have no reverse recovery, the interesting questions are conduction loss and surge, not recovery noise. The bench turns the datasheet into a set of verified operating values for the customer's circuit.

Consistent Method

Every measurement follows the same method, so results are comparable across devices and families. That consistency lets us tell a customer, with evidence, how a device pair performs at their operating point, rather than repeating a general claim.

A Commitment to Engineering Support

BeiLuo is an authorized CR Micro distributor, but we aim to be more than a source of parts. The verification bench is part of a deliberate investment in engineer-level support, because the customers who buy power devices also need help applying them. That support, combined with authorized stock and complete documentation, is what distinguishes a true distributor from a broker.

How to Use the Bench

Customers can request bench support through the contact page. Describe the application, the candidate device and the operating point, and our team will either provide reference data or, for larger projects, run a focused validation and share the results.

Looking Ahead

We plan to expand the bench's coverage to more device families and to standardize the reference data we publish, so customers can self-serve more of the common questions. The objective is consistent, measurable support that helps CR Micro designs reach production faster and perform reliably in the field.
